Father’s Day is coming up soon and today I debut my first mini for the season! This family was a ton of fun and a mixture of cultures as mom hails locally from Belgium and dad is Italian! He’s from Rome so we may run into him on our trip this July!
Although brother was a little apprehensive, sister was all in right away, and dad was a character! He got both of the littles laughing and engaged and he was pretty expressive himself! I had a great time shooting in the woods for this location and it looks like such a storybook location, I’m so in love with it!
Yesterday, you got to see the angry bunny smiling, today you get to see her devour a watermelon in celebration of her birthday! This little girl is so petite and so sweet the watermelon was perfect for her, and she absolutely loved it!
Happy Birthday A!
The last time we saw this little one, it was Easter! Little A is one tough customer when it comes to getting her picture taken as she really, really likes to scowl. The good news is, though, that we got a ton of laughs from her when her parents came over to celebrate her birthday!
Tomorrow I’ll share little A’s “cake smash” but until then, enjoy this smiling little baby!
When I was contacted by this mama for maternity pictures, I immediately jumped at the chance. I had never done them before and was excited to try something new. And when our little mama told me her vision, I knew this session would turn out so gorgeously. So when we showed up to the parc and it was filled with locals fishing and all of the big things we wanted to use were roped off, we did our best to find each other (yep it was THAT roped off) and capture these perfect moments.
I have to say, these two were so cute. They’re high school sweethearts and it SHOWS! They had a blast and were so easy to work with (though daddy is soooo tall!). I cannot wait to meet their little mess.
Yesterday, I shared the love of this cute little family and today you get to see the star mess maker smash his first ever birthday cake! Little Solo is definitely the messiest baby I’ve ever met and he was so into smashing his cake! He was my first baby to really dig in! Mom made this cute monster cake for Solo and it looks perfect until Solo gets his hands on it! I had such a great time working with this family and can’t wait for his birthday celebration next week!
Happy First Birthday Solo!
Sometimes we make connections with people because we’re walking the same path. Though our husband’s work together, today’s mama and I didn’t make much of a connection until she shared that she was pregnant. She hadn’t known long while I was a few months along and we hit it off immediately. We were both so excited for our journeys into motherhood and we had a lot of the same dreams for our births and babies that it was so exciting to talk about everything. Mama is just about the sweetest person I know and Solo is just about the messiest baby I’ve ever met!
I was so excited when she asked me to do her son’s cake smash because he is definitely a MESS MAKER! Tomorrow I’ll share a few from his cake smash but today, it’s all about that family love!
I’ve really been enjoying black and white to showcase the more intimate candid moments shared by my families so for a nice little break, I thought I would share my favorite black and white images from my second session at the Château de Seneffe (check out my first session here).
Mommy so wanted for the rain to pour so these girls could run around in their rainboots and hide under their umbrellas and I love the moody rainy weather we get here in Belgium but because we wanted it, we didn’t get it! The sun was out on high for the entire session so I had to work with some pretty harsh light but I so love the connection between this family and how easily it came out!
This week has been crazy! Be prepared for a deluge as I finally catch up on my editing!
Meet our first family! Saturday, I drove out to Château de Seneffe to capture the beauty of one growing family before they move away from Belgium. The light wasn’t right to capture the 18th century Château but we did grab some beautiful moments with this adorable family.
It’s sad to have to say goodbye to such a beautiful family but say goodbye we must. So farewell to you and congratulations on your little one on the way. I wish you safe travels and an easy duty station!
Little Wren’s Mom is a huge, huge Harry Potter fan and so we had a little bit of fun with some props. We did a bunch of different things and I’m so in LOVE with them all! I cannot wait to do another styled session like this, they’re SO CUTE!
See more of little Wren at her Easter session
I’ve been working on my lifestyle images and it’s tough! It’s hard to capture something that doesn’t say “Snapshot” instead of “Professional Image.” It takes work and thought and trying a million different things. But finally, I got a set that make me think, “That, that is lifestyle.”
Splish Splash Taking a Bath, featuring Mess Maker J!
***My husband was standing just out of the shot while I was working because taking pictures is distracting and my son was in a bathtub of water. Do not take pictures of your young child alone while they bathe for safety purposes.***
For this first image, I bent upside down, hair dangling in the water, my husband sighing in the background. This was my favorite of the images I got that way of him playing. I really wanted that angle and I’m so going to try it again!
This was “dangerously close to the splashing baby” with my husband sighing again in the background. I was almost touching him the entire time I shot from this angle.
Mess Maker J is super into Peek-a-Boo lately. So when it’s bathtime with mommy, we always get a few in and he loves it! This time I brought my camera along for the ride! It was hard to pop up and down and get my focus in time!
When we play Peek-a-Boo, J always has to search me out. Those cute little hands! I love them!
I have a cheesy child. He makes this face often and I love it! He always makes me laugh and I cheese right back.
