My first maternity clients were a gorgeous couple I got to photograph not once but twice before their little one rushed her arrival (yep she was a month early, healthy as can be!)! I had such a great time with this couple before their baby arrived and now they’re even more in love and more fun to work with. I’m so thankful that I’ve had the opportunity to work with them from bump to baby!

This week one of my images was the favorite in the Facebook group Photography: Support, Learn & Inspire with Cozy Clicks. I was then featured along with other photographers at the Cozy Clicks blog which is such an exciting honor as the group is filled with a great many professional and hobbyist photographers with a lot of skill and talent.
The image is one I took of my husband and son to celebrate my husband’s service and our relationship with it.
As the holiday is upon us, let us celebrate together all that makes our nation great and continue to strive every year to be better.
Happy Fourth of July!
Part of my journey through photography, because I am in the thick of it now, is trying to capture our family as we engage in our last few adventures before moving to Minot ND in the fall. We are really excited to be in the states again but we will miss out on the great adventures we get to go on.
Admittedly, I have more collages of J playing in the hotel then of actual tourist stuff but I wanted to share this set from the Acropolis and talk about it a little.
My husband always tells me when we start the day to make sure to pause and enjoy the moment because we were in ATHENS at the PARTHENON. We are not crowd people so we really struggle to stay in the moment when it’s wall to wall people–really we both want to run. But we came, we saw, we photographed, and we left. Husband got a photo of me–of course we have traditional cheesy photos in front of ruins but I wanted to get a few of my sleeping baby to prove to him he’d been there. So I worked on framing and composition and directing the eye. Then I put the camera away and drank a litre of water as we descended from this high up perch that’s that much closer to the hot hot sun.
I posted last time about my Brit Fete mini sessions that I had a blast with and I love posting images of my little mess maker because he’s my inspiration and the model I have in mind when I come up with my individual sessions. I love watching him interact with the world but I also love grabbing unique images of him in sets.
So, below are the images I took to let the world know we’d be at Brit Fete. I set my backdrop up and started laying down the wood floor which J immediately started playing on. He usually helps me set it up when we work in his room so he was ready.
And these took a lot of work. My husband was behind me sticking his tongue out and we were making crazy noises and all J (and my husband) wanted to do was go eat dinner. But I needed the shots and I didn’t want to have to worry about his clothes getting dirty. SO it was now.
SOOOO I got out the chocolate chips. Yes. I admit it. I bribe my child.
It didn’t really work that well. But. Well, he is quite handsome anyway!

One of the great things about living in Belgium is the abundance of culture! It’s a great melting pot of NATO Nations which means that as a photographer I get the chance to work with a lot of international families and I get to attend a lot of great events!
Last weekend I set up at Brit Fete to meet and greet people attending the event and I had a great time meeting new people and making connections. I even got some adorable kids in the tent for a few photos!
This little girl is one of my favorite models (can you tell!?). I love spending time with her and her mama and my mess maker finds her to be his favorite cuddle buddy. He has spent plenty of time just holding this little girl and I know he’ll have fun chasing her once she gets mobile! I am so sad I’ll be losing my worker bee in a few months but I was so glad for the chance to meet her and her family. I’m sure you’ll see more of this one before I move!

One of the reason’s I got into photography was because I wanted the chance to capture my son as he grows. He’s grown up so fast and I so love how much he’s changing and learning but I still miss my little baby. If you haven’t taken a photo of your little one(s) today, do it! You won’t regret it.
Happy Father’s Day to all the daddies out there, I hope you’re having a great one!

Back again for her last set of newborn pictures, this little girl is too cute next to her dad’s rugby ball and wrapped up in this cute peach wrap! I have so much fun with these posed newborn sessions because they’re a chance to play with the things mum and dad love!
Thank you so much to this family for working with me. I had such a wonderful time with you and your little one!

When I got the chance to enjoy this little girl again (when there wasn’t a heat wave in Belgium), I was so excited. Her parents were so much fun to work with and I just adored how much they adored her and each other.
Their home was so nice and so open and bright. It was really just the an enjoyable session start to finish and I got some posed shots which you can see next time!

Stay tuned Minot, ND–I’ll be seeing you soon for these and more!
