The other day, you got to see my biggest family yet and today you get to see a tiny offshoot of that family. It’s such a hard thing when you’re a military family to build and maintain the relationships of extended family. It’s hard to know how many people are out there that love your children from afar so when they’re all together, it’s always a gift! And this family, all of them, are nothing but love! It’s such a joy to share in that love! So a huge thank you to this big, big family and their littles for letting me be apart of that love!
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” -Pablo Picasso
I got into photography to capture the beauty that is my son and I based my business on that simple idea–to capture the memories of our children. They grow so fast and our lives don’t slow down for a second, so we have to move fast, we have to make messes, and we have to put those messes on high because they are what life is made out of. Here we make messes and we celebrate those messes.
On this day, I was able to work with little D again (see images from her session with her daddy a few weeks ago: Daddy and Us!). She had a great time painting herself and creating a unique art piece to display alongside these gorgeous images of her. It’s such a delight to be able to create not just art but memories!

I love doing sessions in Mons because the backdrop is so pretty and the variety is so great so when we scheduled this little guys birthday shoot it was my first choice. When I was driving into the city though, 4-5 times a crossing guard stopped me so bikes could ride through… and a exhibition filled with bike ramps took over the Grand Place (town square) so a city that is normally empty on Sunday mornings proved quite a challenge for us on this family shoot.
With plenty of distracting bikers at every location, and some options completely blocked off, we worked trekked through the city in the heat and we even got a few smiles from this tough cookie. It’s so hard to believe he’s turning two already but the numbers don’t lie… 2 it is!
Happy Birthday, little lion!
Last weekend, I got to work with a family new to Belgium and we had a fantastic time exploring the parc! As soon as dad put little N down he wanted to go, go, go! There is always so much to explore at the parc for little ones and N wanted to see it all! We had a great time exploring with this family and chasing N around! We even snagged a few portraits of him not escaping!
Today’s little family is a family with HUGE hearts! They are currently searching for little ones in need to add to their family and… what a loving home they’re walking into. Both big brothers dote on little sister and little sister is a spitfire! This family is part of my village and so I get to see updates on their daily life and, no joke, this family has a duck and chickens and oh they’re just too cute!
They came out to recreate a photo they had done when the boys were sooo much smaller and before little sister was around! I had a great time and the kids were all so well behaved while they played with all of little J’s toys in the backyard.
Our frequent flyer, E, is back. She’s always such a character and her parents are so sweet that I always love when it’s E’s turn in front of the camera even when she outright refuses (no is her favorite word) to pose for us! She did love getting to hang out with daddy this time and trying on his boots!
See more of E’s shoots here: St Patrick’s Day, Easter, & Mommy (and nana and papa) and Me!
Father’s Day is coming up soon and today I debut my first mini for the season! This family was a ton of fun and a mixture of cultures as mom hails locally from Belgium and dad is Italian! He’s from Rome so we may run into him on our trip this July!
Although brother was a little apprehensive, sister was all in right away, and dad was a character! He got both of the littles laughing and engaged and he was pretty expressive himself! I had a great time shooting in the woods for this location and it looks like such a storybook location, I’m so in love with it!
