“If love is the treasure, laughter is the key.” – Yakov Smirnoff
I had the chance to work with a very giggly couple and I had such a great time finding ways to get them to crack up but also loosen up to share their love with the world. We walked around Villers Abbey again searching for little ways to make it our own and to make it romantic. I think we succeeded in getting some great (and steamy) moments.
I never thought I’d love doing couples photos so much because I started out taking photos of my son but every session reminds me of myself and as I work with every client, I always imagine what I would want and I have a fun time trying to deliver that art for someone else.
This Wild Child is turning THREE so that meant family pictures and as you’ll see next week a special session just for him!
We headed out to the local Château de Beloeil for these pictures and I selected a series of my favorite of little M playing with mom and dad because it so captured the beauty that is his energy and enthusiasm. He’s such a sweet little boy with more energy than anyone I ever met and he’s finally warmed up to me, he kept taking my hand to walk as we explored the grounds.
Working with wild families like this brings me so much joy. One of the things, I think, that sets me apart as photographer is that I come to the session with a lot of patience and care. When M runs away from me, I run after him! When he runs towards me, I get ready to snap one with his hair flying back and a huge grin on his face. That patience helps everyone stay calm and happy and shows in the portraits we end up with. It’s so important for everyone to find a photographer that’s willing to work with them and take the time to get to know your family and work with them. This is an intimate art, making memories, and you need the right person for your family to do it.

I’m sharing a part of my journey–more from our family vacation to Greece.
I usually take a step back when we’re traveling to take photos and then I put my camera away. I’m sure that it sounds foreign that a photographer would just put her camera away but I want to live. I want to experience our vacation with my husband and son more than I want to document it. I still capture the essence of our day, like when we visited The Parthenon, but then we move on to enjoying the world we’re in. It’s hard sometimes with the toddler wanting to get down and explore when we’re walking on the street or in a museum so we always look for places to take him that he can be free–this time it was the National Gardens in Athens.
We walked through the gardens, I made sure to let him lead and capture the beauty that is a toddler in a park. He has no idea we are in a completely different country and that it matters at all; he just wants to play with a stick.
One of the reason’s I got into photography was because I wanted the chance to capture my son as he grows. He’s grown up so fast and I so love how much he’s changing and learning but I still miss my little baby. If you haven’t taken a photo of your little one(s) today, do it! You won’t regret it.
Happy Father’s Day to all the daddies out there, I hope you’re having a great one!

Coming to a Minot near you to deliver unique opportunities for gorgeous photos!
I have been wanting to explore lifestyle photography more and I had a great couple to work with on my last maternity session so when they welcomed me into their home, I worked hard to capture more of the beauty that is their love! Mini Mama Maternity!
I am so amazed at how sweet they are together and how quickly they relax and how many great shots I can get of them interacting and loving each other. Their little girl showed up early and I know they are going to rock as parents. I’m so thrilled for them and their little girl is so lucky to grow up in a household of love! Congrats again!
I have baby fever but since we found out we’re going to Minot ND in October, we’re holding off just a touch so we don’t have a blizzard baby. Until then, I hope I get to do a lot more of these Fresh 48 Sessions because they are too fun!
I love that every time I open up my images I’m falling in love over and over again with them. This little man was so calm and didn’t get phased by a single click of the shutter. Mama and Papa were so in love with each other and baby. The session was just amazing.
Last weekend, I got to work with a family new to Belgium and we had a fantastic time exploring the parc! As soon as dad put little N down he wanted to go, go, go! There is always so much to explore at the parc for little ones and N wanted to see it all! We had a great time exploring with this family and chasing N around! We even snagged a few portraits of him not escaping!
This is probably the LAST set of pictures from this little girl before she moves away on her next big adventure.
I’m so sad to see this family go because A’s mommy is just awesome, A is so fun and so adorable, and A’s daddy? Well he’s a big softy for his little girl.
This session is the first from my military brat mini sessions and I think it perfectly captures the spirit of the military child.
See more of Little A for Easter, family pictures for her birthday, and her fruit smash!
Father’s Day is coming up soon and today I debut my first mini for the season! This family was a ton of fun and a mixture of cultures as mom hails locally from Belgium and dad is Italian! He’s from Rome so we may run into him on our trip this July!
Although brother was a little apprehensive, sister was all in right away, and dad was a character! He got both of the littles laughing and engaged and he was pretty expressive himself! I had a great time shooting in the woods for this location and it looks like such a storybook location, I’m so in love with it!
The last time we saw this little one, it was Easter! Little A is one tough customer when it comes to getting her picture taken as she really, really likes to scowl. The good news is, though, that we got a ton of laughs from her when her parents came over to celebrate her birthday!
Tomorrow I’ll share little A’s “cake smash” but until then, enjoy this smiling little baby!
