Last weekend, I got to work with a family new to Belgium and we had a fantastic time exploring the parc! As soon as dad put little N down he wanted to go, go, go! There is always so much to explore at the parc for little ones and N wanted to see it all! We had a great time exploring with this family and chasing N around! We even snagged a few portraits of him not escaping!
J got a sand table for Easter from his grandparents but J likes to eat sand so I filled it with Rice Krispies! He loves top lay with the rice krispies and his best friends like to clean it up as he goes.

Yesterday, you got to see the angry bunny smiling, today you get to see her devour a watermelon in celebration of her birthday! This little girl is so petite and so sweet the watermelon was perfect for her, and she absolutely loved it!
Happy Birthday A!
I’ve been working on my lifestyle images and it’s tough! It’s hard to capture something that doesn’t say “Snapshot” instead of “Professional Image.” It takes work and thought and trying a million different things. But finally, I got a set that make me think, “That, that is lifestyle.”
Splish Splash Taking a Bath, featuring Mess Maker J!
***My husband was standing just out of the shot while I was working because taking pictures is distracting and my son was in a bathtub of water. Do not take pictures of your young child alone while they bathe for safety purposes.***
For this first image, I bent upside down, hair dangling in the water, my husband sighing in the background. This was my favorite of the images I got that way of him playing. I really wanted that angle and I’m so going to try it again!
This was “dangerously close to the splashing baby” with my husband sighing again in the background. I was almost touching him the entire time I shot from this angle.
Mess Maker J is super into Peek-a-Boo lately. So when it’s bathtime with mommy, we always get a few in and he loves it! This time I brought my camera along for the ride! It was hard to pop up and down and get my focus in time!
When we play Peek-a-Boo, J always has to search me out. Those cute little hands! I love them!
I have a cheesy child. He makes this face often and I love it! He always makes me laugh and I cheese right back.
I always start these posts thinking, “I loved doing this shoot…but why?” The thing is, I love hanging out with Miss E and her mommy. We try to get out together and we usually make it 2-3 times a month to the same event. Right now it’s zoo season. And Mess Maker J is just now learning to play with other kids, so it was such a treat to go out and do some Mommy and Me photos for Miss E and her mommy! We were fortunate enough that Miss E’s grandparents were visiting so we included them too! We all had a blast together! Even Mess Maker J who was a horrible assistant and ended the shoot by falling into a puddle!
Mess Maker J’s first puddle!
Today I bring you not just one cute little one for Easter, but two. I got to work with a big sister and her little brother for Easter sessions and we had a blast. Big Sister A was a good egg who loved to pose for the camera and Little Brother B (who was not so little, he weighs as much as Mess Maker J!) was a smiley little man. We got some great shots and I am excited to share them with you!
This was my first chance to work with a little baby and toddler and I had a blast. It was so fun to see the littles interact with each other and to have little A model for me (she was so well behaved and listened so well to Papa!). Thank you for joining me for Easter!
Yesterday, I shared M’s Happy Day photos and today begins our Easter celebration! After a quick, Belgian wardrobe change, M began the second half of her photo shoot with renewed energy. She loved the sequin eggs and little flowers and of course, Daddy!
This was one dedicated daddy. As we prepared for the shoot, M’s mommy decided to make the entire day about her and these parents did not skip a beat. M is one treasured little girl and that’s a gift worth more than anything in the world.
The communal parc was gorgeous Saturday and the gorgeous pond was the perfect place to showcase the beauty and personality of Little M. Thank you so much for letting us celebrate with you!
This weekend, I got to work with a gorgeous little family in celebration not only of Easter (so more coming soon) but the big TWO for little M! The camera scared M a few times but that didn’t stop her from yelling Happy Day while we were playing in the park. She got us to sing Happy Birthday quite a few times and even got Daddy to sing Hot Dog for her!
The best part of photography, for me, is meeting families and seeing the way they love and interact with each other. Usually Mommy does the song and dance for laughs but this time Daddy didn’t hesitate to join in and go a step further! It was such a treat to spend time with this gorgeous little family.
I can’t wait to share my first Easter session with you guys next time, stay tuned for more photos of gorgeous little M!
I wanted to share these photos of Mess Maker J, my professional model, part-time king. My mother started calling him King J. as soon as we shared his name when he was just a little squirmy alien baby. My camera made him a model. I brought him up to test out my Easter sessions and he immediately climbed in the chair and started posing. Mr. Mess Maker popped his crown on.
I have such an easy time getting photos of my mess maker that sometimes I get nervous about getting a nice variety of my littlest models. Mess Maker J. just jumps right in doing what I need him to. He’s got a pretty short attention span (so does his daddy as an assistant) and a lot of times he runs off the set and Mr. Mess Maker brings him back over.
This week’s 15 minutes of posing yielded 24 photos while sometimes 30 minutes with a bitty client doesn’t yield a high variety. I think this is normal as I need to continue building my way of working with kids just like I did when I was teaching. We all have our own unique ways of interacting with the world, photography is the same. A one size fits all method won’t work for every photographer or every model. That’s the nature of… life.
I like to reset myself with a shoot with Mess Maker J. because he’s my best and easiest model and his mom is just the best client! It helps refresh my mind and remind me of my goal–to produce the same photos for other moms that I so cherish of my own son.
For Miss Isa’s big 3, we went with simple and she supplied the shine!
We encountered so many issues trying to find the right things for miss Isa’s set and the photos I love the most are the ones where there is not much there except for her.
She was slow to warm up but we got some gorgeous smiles out of her after mommy promised pie and lollipops! She even gave us a few poses! She loved the books Mess Maker J. had in his room, especially the Wizard of Oz book! She finally took a shine to me after I pulled the cool books out.
One of my favorites is the sassy look below. I got quite a few of those today.
Thanks so much for coming out little one and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
